I can vouch for that!! When I was a kid I had some big foot long Oscars. I used to get scared trying to feed them as they had jumped out of that tank and hung onto my finger once upon a time!! Horrifying when you are just young! Would love to have a big enough tank to keep them in now. They're great fish.

Hi guys and girls. I had a random flash back about a minute ago about the tank I had when I was 12. It was a community tank with guppies, swordtails, dwarf gouramis and other things. I just remember having some fry in that tank at one point. They looked like guppy fry, but when one of the males grew up, it had a sword tail on the bottom of its big flowy guppy tail. Is this a certain breed of guppy OR Is there a chance that my male sword tail could have bred with my big female guppy? I just haven't heard much talk about this kind of thing, so did I get lucky?

I know some people have taught Goldfish tricks. Go do a search on youtube for this hilarious goldfish that can play soccer and stuff. It's hilarious.

If putting a pest down humanely is cruel, then so is keeping fish in a glass box, no matter how big it is.

Get it put down... humanely. Or just hit it with an axe or something They are definitely not the sort of animal you want to release, If the authorities found out, they would pick you up the the pigtails and swing you about. Not only that, but for the sake of the environment, don't let it go.

Oh true. I don't have any at the moment, i had to get rid of the last ones as a kid because we had no room in the new house we moved into! I'm looking to get another turtle once i move out of home and I will remember that when i set up the new tank!

True, yes I did have a UV light over the basking spot in my turtle tank, but I've seen so many that didn't have a light, so assumed it was all good to not have one. Pet shops are especially bad for this! Thanks for that info!

Turtles in captivity generally don't hibernate AFAIK. And I also don't think they need a basking light either, as such, just needs a place to come out of the water and dry out a bit.

haha too true. That photo does make me look particularly young to be honest. I'll find another. This is me next to an old car of mine. Which has gone to a worse home where the driver got caught drunk driving and it was thrashed I feel bad for selling her to that guy. Was a great car to drive though!

It'd be pretty tall wouldn't it? Mission to clean the higher ones? and the ones underneath - unless you can slide them out somehow but that would un balance the whole thing. I can imagine a 2 level rack. but maybe not 4. Would get bloody heavy too. Heaps of leveragefor it to topple over with a slight knock. Just cut the glass up and glue it all together to make one humugous tank?!?! HOWZAT? Good luck any way. Would look incredible to see it done.

Yeah, i looked into Killifish and was really keen on getting some, but i just couldn't find any in my area. I ended up getting some sort of danio that has blue stripes with yellow bits on the fins. groovy little fish. got 3 of them.

I've never owned a fish that lived alone. Can fish live alone? or do they get bored and go crazy like a dog if you don't walk it.

I swear fish have just turned really soft over the last couple of years, the last time I kept fish I had no idea what cycling the tank was and none of my fish ever died until they were eaten or that time that the heater shat itself and turned my tank into a big boiling fish stew. haha
