Sure is, Some lady in a small mazda Infront of my mum Slammed on her brakes and my mums Pajero Went right through it . Cause she thought A big yellow car pulled out infront of her.... There was no yellow car, We were the only 2 cars on the street :lol:
My Question there would be, why was you mother following so close behind that she wasnt able to stop? what if there had been a "yellow car" or a child...

we just cut it in half, removed the coconut and plonked them on in, the SAE's had a great time nibbling on the wiskers!

yeah not really parents eating the fry that you have to worry about with Jewels, just if mum and dad dont feel like they are "protecting" their babies, they may attack each other, so the two tanks you have if you can put them hard up against eachother so that they can see the old tank mates and still think that they are protecting the babies then they should be ok,
hope that makes sens :roll: e

you may actually find that mum and dad will keep them away from the filter intakes, i know ours do that,

not fish but an example a m8 of mine sold there rottie puppies to a local petsop @ $300 each and the shop sells em at $900 a pop, dunno if tht the norm or wot but thats the way it is!
Thats why you buy dogs from Local NZKC reps!

You mean your jewels pick off some of their own young?
Yip! there's probably about 30 or so in what used to be a "community" tank, i know jewels arent reccomended for a comunity tank because of their nature but ours have always been fine!

They are however known to munch anything that they see as a weakest link or small enough in their eyes to dine out on
i wish they'd start picking off some of the young we have! :oops:

If the Oto's went anywhere near the Jewel eggs, his life expectancy would drop to about 5 seconds.
Jewels (in my experience) are very good parents, and will defend a large area of territory, and have no qualms about biting. When removing babies myself, my Jewels would attack my hands.
Yep ours do the same, tho they only seem to chase other fish away, and unless they are protecting their eggs they are qutie peacefull
