Lol thanks, yer totally addicted wouldnt have it any other way admittly i did have a small hexy tank with just a few tiger barbs and a red tail shark but it just wasnt enough lol i missed my big tank and fish, im really excited cause ive actually never started right from scratch so theres gunna be a lot of customizing all part of the fun though aye :bounce:

Ive finally sucombed to getting back into fishes again, last year i sold my tank and complete setup due to not much tme on my hands well this year ive missed it so much ive started on a tank project. I brought a tank (just under 5 foot) off trademe, has a craked back panel so managed to find a piece of glass to replace it and a mate of mine is going to do that part for me and resilicone and ive hopefully secured a cabinet good ol T.M lol, and planing on doing a sump for it. Its prob going to take a couple of months to get everything all up and running but sooo worth it and ill add pics as i go. Not to sure what fish to put in yet but will decide once ive got everything ready and going nicely.

Yes fire eel def eats huge amount its great too cause i was real worried i herd few people have probs with getting them to eat when new but this one didnt hesitate id also been told about hand feeding them but mm still think im mored timid than him lol, but i will try it soon..

Had been thinking bout getting new tank for awhile i had two community tanks and now down to just one large tank which is the one is purchased just a little while ago its custom made measuring 1340mm long by 420mm wide by 500mm high and in 10mm thick glass have decorated a little but might change it and have new lighthood arriving any day as other is way to small, is home to 1 common pleco, 3 clown loaches and a new addition of a fire eel they seem really small in bigger tank and have been settling in well.... sorry i didnt do pics properly have redone them>

I was wondering is there any way to grind these up to a reasonably fine sand any ideas much appreciated thanks

But i was new to plants and thought id give java fern ago but i had the exact same problem with the leaves looked black at edges and i brought mine off trademe also, in the end i took it out of my tank like i say i was new to plants in tank and was worried it might affect fish, I wasnt really sure what else to do guess i should have just asked lol :oops:

Hi, i recently brought 3 fish they were firemouths (cichlids) ive had tank set up for just under a year and thought was time to get a couple more my tank consits of girafe x2 convicts x2 ice blues x2 one unkown and an electric yellow, since adding the firemouths the firemouths have been slowly dyin first one last week so i did partial water change then the second one toinght, i had added some java fern but since takin that out as it made my water green, could it have been the java fern?

I have a sailfin pleco who is or seems to be getting worse. I thought it was white spot so treated for that but the about 50 cent spot was white but lifting the kind of like scales of his head and leaving a small indent he hasnt been moving much just staying in one place night or day and today i noticed a rather yuck smell coming from tank, so did water change cleaned out filter and within a short time the smell has come back so ive quaratined him but unsure what else to do he had been fine till i got this filter and i dont really know how the filter could have caused this and there really is a bad smell coming off his water in the quarantine tank and ideas sugestions please please......

I have just set up a canister filter and spray bar the only thing is i guess i dont need the bubbler anymore just want to make sure Thanks..

Yes I think they are lake ones not 100 percent sure ill try post a pic of them... ones yellow with a little black stripe on the top fin the other is blue with blackish stripes though it..

Thanks, so far only pleco large and two african cichalids unsure what else to add at mo im thinking more cichlids though i like them there really busy and interesting a little on the shy side tis the reason i changed tank setup to home them beter and give them hidy holes unsure what else to add to keep them happy ive tried to look at other tanks that have these to get ideas

I would just like to know i was reading on another thread that cichlids prefer sand eg: river sand, my question is when i get the sand do i need to rinse it and do i put it on top of gravel or do i have to take the gravel out, ive got anoyed with my set up so i had rearanged yet again but having trouble getting pics up.... any advice apreciated

K so the cichlids like spirulina aswell? um the mix seems to be a pleco mix i rang the lady at the shop cause it dosnt say whats in the ingrediants she said it is a tropical fish mix that a guy local to me recomended aparently he uses it for his plecos and other tropical BUT couldnt tell me what the ingerdiants is, all i can describe it as is black crumble and smelly. Ill have a look on the net to see if i can find anything about it. :-?

If anyone can answer this would be greatful, i brought a product called brooklands pet products called sinking crumbles any good for the chillards aparantly the plecos like them and the lady n our local pet shop recomended them but i wanted to be sure before i put them in.

Hi all, I got my first cichlids just settled them in. I got a electirc yellow and a blue with kinda black stripes, they are so beautiful i will post pics soon as ive done up my tank quite abit compared to what it was before i mite post a pic in full tank i mean my tanks not as fantastic as a lot of you way more experienced but see what you think. :bounce: :bounce:
