  1. Thank you for your help! It sounds okay then. It's not swinging up or down, it's just higher than I've had experience with - and I'd like my fish to be happy!
  2. Thank you for your replies. I don't think the wood is helping lower the pH at all. It's macrocarpa river 'driftwood'. The tank pH is constant, but at 7.4-7.6. Is that way too high?
  3. Hi All, Can anyone give me an indication of what pH my tap water should be? My tank water is testing at 7.4-6 (it's got wood in it), but my tap water is coming out around 8! My previous tanks have never had any problems with pH (always been right on 7 or just below). I don't really want to add a whole lot of chemicals, but this is a newish tank and it's still cycling - I'm worrying about my ammonia/pH ratio etc. Any advice would be appreciated! Cheers L
  4. Thank you all for the warm welcome. It's Manukau City - Auckland Region. Cheers L
  5. Yep, I don't recommend selling up, unless you want all new equipment, that is. Thank you all very much for your messages of welcome and offerings of help. I will most definitely post pictures of my Asian tank once all the plants and fish have settled in. Cheers L
  6. Hi All, Nice to meet you! Thank you for reading my intro. I'm a long time admirer of the NZFAS forum. I've previously had a 120L community, a (co-owned) 120L species tank (brackish - green spotted puffer) and a 40L Asian set up. A while ago I moved house and (stupidly) though that selling up would be easier than moving! Well, that didn't last long! I asked for a AR980 for christmas and santa (my partner) was obliging. I'm working very slowly on setting it up as a semi-planted (with easy to grow plants) Asian tank. Right now I have some danios and some cherry barbs in there and I'm slowly adding fish, plants and a river log sourced from a nearby creek. I'm mid twenties (female) and live with my partner, cats, fish and chickens in South Auckland and I work as a mental health researcher. Nice to meet you ! Cheers L
