  1. wow. i've never seen them before, they are beautiful. are the parents sucking the babies up and moving them?
  2. hi all, since my angels seem to be annoying my other community fish, i have bought another tank for them. i would also(one day) like to put a pair of kribs in with the angels. could i please have some tips on how to set my tank up for them. like what plants? how many caves, hidey holes etc? also i read somewhere that kribs need something to chase when eggs are laid or else they will chase each other, is this true and if it is should i put some neon tetras in there for that? i really just want happy healthy fish so any tips will be very much appreciated. i haven't picked up the tank yet but i intend to go the LFS with a big list. lol Thanks again
  3. thanks alan and ballistic. i will try the slate in the tank. i just have another question. i have 3 angels in the tank and it seems the 2 that have paired up are harrasing the third. can he look after himself or should i be worried? i would hate them to damage him.
  4. sigh...it was exciting while it lasted. it has been a few hours since i found the eggs and they are all gone. the parents were very attentive and i saw then fanning the eggs but now they're all gone. just wasn't their time i guess. well at least now i know what to look for. thanks Ballistic and fishboi for your help.
  5. thanks heaps for the advice. it's just so unexpected. i'll be keeping my fingers crossed for the next few days. thanks for the luck, sounds like i'll need it. P.S. i'm really excited.....lmao
  6. omg..... :bounce: i am so excited. that is so cool. ummmm here be another round of questions...will the parents look after the fry? will my other fish eat the fry? and how long till they hatch? i really really hope you are right Ballistic. this is very last thing i was expecting. :bounce: Cheers
  7. Hi all. i wasn't sure where to put this thread but i'm hoping breeders will recognise my description. tonight i have noticed on the grey box of our filter pipe lots and lots of little yellow almost see through "eggs". what made me notice was my angels picking them off but alot of the eggs are so stuck on there that the angels can't seem to get them off, no matter how hard they try. i have 2 yellow apple snails in my tank. could they have put them there? as well as the angels i have neons, guppies, platies, corydoras, a plec, black phantoms and 1 male siamese fighter. any info about the snalis would be appreciated or if these "eggs" are abnormal please let me know. Thanks in advance
  8. wow KA, i guess like pregnant women, pregnant fish are all different. well, i started with 9 babies after i took mum out and because of my angels i am now left with three. i'm pretty sure the angels were sucking them through the slits in the trap. i have a tank i'm not using right now and i thought of putting kribs in it one day soon. would my angels be safe in with kribs?
  9. thanks very much Caryl. well she had popped out 8 babies while i was watching closely and neither her or other female tried to eat them, then just after the 9th was born, mummy made a grab for a fry beside her so i promptly removed both females. i will wait till they are swimming and put them in with other fry. Thanks again for your help.
  10. also i have a cory catfish in the fry tank? do they eat newborn fry? thanks in advance anyone.
  11. ok here's a plan...could i take the seperator out of the trap, put it in the smaller tank and let the fry fall straight into the tank? would the older fry eat them? also i have gravel on the bottom could they get stuck in it? maybe i worry too much.
  12. at the mo, she is in my community tank in a breeder trap. i have another small tank, that has fry a friend gave me about a month old, would she be ok in with them or will she eat them too? i feel so sorry for the wee fry , protective mother instinct ? lol
  13. Hi all, to quote someone else, i am a first time poster but long time lurker. Up till now i have been able to find all the answers to my questions from the various posts on this helpful site but now i am at a loss. I have 2 pregnant guppies in isolation and one has popped out 2 babies. Could someone please tell me how long i leave her in there? is it possible she will only have 2 babies? and finally could the other female eat one of the babies? thanks in advance for any advice anyone can give me.
