  1. What sort of skimmer you thinking of using? Overflows will also often have air bubbles in the flow so direct use may be an issue. Why not just use an in sump skimmer.
  2. Fay, hope you got some pics before it got too dark... maybe they will pay for you not to publish it..
  3. Doh... was in the reference links
  4. Okay this has not happened yet but one day I will have the courage to pull it off... I have had people really stare when reversing down the boat ramp with no trailer or boat. I have also expereinced where I greet people on the ramp and have no response. They are so intent/focused on trying to figure out what I am up to that I am invisible to them. One day I will have the courage to reverse the "invisible boat down" do all the normal imaginery things you do when launching a boat .... then ask someone to hold the boat while I park the imaginery trailer... One day...
  5. Krama I must be going blind... :-? where is your new post?
  6. Thanks Krama, going to aim to run water test this evening, all going well plan to run the tank without the closed loop. Can finish that off later. Still waiting for my RO/DI unit so may have to hit up others in the area for top up water .. nudge nudge JoeBlog what sort of flexible pipe did you use, any pics anywhere?
  7. Just received my Oceans Motion 4 way.. :bounce: Now for the spiderweb of piping. I have 32mm PVC piping to and from the tank. With the current placement of piping and return pump I will end up with two 90 degree bends really close to the pump. Would it be better to have a loop of flexible hose or stick with the solid PVC and elbows? :-? If flexible better then any brands/type that is recommended. chrs
  8. I think he should move the coffee machine to the garage.. If he can find space

  10. wow appears pretty high flow rate for sump. just did some rough calcs on putting second small pump in sump for a cooling circuit back to display on my design.. your numbers look high. Let us know how it goes... theory is one thing lets see how it pans out.
  11. Cheers for the catch-up to day Mark, was good to make contact and check what you up to. Thanks for sharing, ...next time my place when my new toys arrive. And really nice coffee You will have to settle for plastic coffee at my place though..
  12. Nice rock layout Shaneo! No water in tank yet for me... Rock cooking in garage, close to finishing the plumbing. Will have to start a tank build thread soon, have the photos just need to put it together.
  13. Nice post Layton was wondering about pros and cons, you have laid it out nice and simple so even I undestand.
  14. Umm yep... saw that when browsing the site, I suppose postage going to be a fair bit so might as well do it all. May hold off on buying, do all the extra plumbing and buy later in a month or two.. Oops.. xmas coming. Anyone else in for anything from the site http://www.oceansmotions.com/store/?osCsid=12e4eb3c72bb1f78742dbef1e7900dea If we can get a group order it would cheaper and worse case we can spread postage pro rata. I am happy to organise just post here or PM me, unless we have to watch total cost for import duty. Lets see what the interest is and we can take it from there. Chrs
  15. Thanks... pitty all the cool stuff one finds is 3/4 and not bigger :-?
  16. Yep chrs, saw your pics on the forum, did you order it direct from them or is there a local supplier? How long you been running it, looks like the inside parts wear as it is offered as a standard replacement item?
  17. Hey all, I have three 32mm bulkheads in back of tank wall, all under water level for closed loop. Ocean runner 6500 pump (1700 gph) for closed loop. Would be cool to alternate return flow as per these products by Ocean Motions. Pretty expensive 1. Anyone have any other cool ideas? 2. I am also looking for flow directing nozzles on the inside of the bulkhead (Female thread side) an ideas there as well? 3. All else fails I am going to split the return into two, anyone know where I can get a Y socket for 32mm? Had a look at Plastic systems, no joy, closest was a 45 tee which will end up favouring one side. chrs http://www.oceansmotions.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=32&osCsid=e09b4cb27420dbc307c3ab0800795c1a
  18. Chrs for that.. probably thread tape the hard to reach plumbing then try some of the paste Teflon on some easy to reach/change/drip-doesn't-matter plumbing as a comparison. Point taken on the leeching so will go sparingly. Any way going to try some to find out.
  19. Damn sorry only saw bit about wife now... hope its all good.
  20. No sorry, no trailer have station wagon with 2 x 50l containers .. stand upright and fit bilge pipe or pump into top to pump water in then back out. Other than that that another 57 l chilly bin and two 20l cans. So typically collect 180l per shot in back of station wagon. If any is a help ... even containers let me know. Other than that you happy with water condition though? Been raining pretty hard yesterday.
  21. If you need a hand ... me and my trusty 1000 gph bilge pump is available. Pretty small but hey many bilge pumps make the water pump faster. Not much help on techo front but if you need some grunt help with water collecting I am keen to assist. I am on the peninsula so cant be too far away. 3m high at about 11 am ... bit hard with work an all. Otherwise night time raid is doable. I have about 300l at home collected before any of this rain that you are welcome too... If you want pickup during the day.. np I can let you know the secret location chrs
  22. Hmm... toys. I reckon dip it in silicon sealant and strap a stream on its back. Okay so you will need big foils to counteract the torque... and a big soft crash bag on the front. Okay maybe not for this mod.
  23. Umm okay so ... you must keep a bit of jelly fish in your pocket to feed the critters... or you hiding it somewhere else
  24. Teflon based liquid type. Oatey brand.
