3 weeks swiiming free and 1 week without the mothers in the tank and what look like 60-70 red hump geophagus fry are doing well. Was funny watching the mothers suck em up like a vacum cleaner then spit them back out again. Will be looking at selling some in about a month if anyone interested.

If you can carry the cost fluval fx5, awesome bit of kit. Don't know anything about the jebos.

Well at long last both females have gone the distance and are now holding approx 30 fry each. Time will tell how many we will finish up with.

Evening all, does anyone know how long it takes for the fry to be released? We have 2 holding and one has released one fry so far with more to follow. Just wondering how long the process may take for all to be out and swimming?

End of the day if they want in they get in, matters not to them how they do it. We shouldn't in theory have any illegal plants anyway. So personally i reckon its a good idea, why let some greedy fools ruin it for everyone else.

Evening all, almost ready to finish the 8ft cichlid tank, question is rather than have a 2 1/2 foot high pile of rocks what is the best way to build some sort of internal frame to create layers?, less rock required then. dimenssions are 8 x2.5 x2 ft or 240 x 750 x 600 if we talk cm. Like some do for reef tanks i assume?. Thanks

Freight rates are usally worked out on a tonne/cubic basis charged on what ever is the greater. ie 1tn = 3 cubic metres for the north island and interisland usually is worked out on a 1tn = 2 cubic metres. So obviously the smaller the item the less the charge as long as the weight is close to its cubic conversion.

mmm the ones on zebra pleco . com be lucky to get that many, there is a breeder selling some but they are young ones only, un-sexable and still not much less then $250.00 US fish, and yes i have spoken to them on the phone so as people say very expensive. Having said that.... .... i am also looking at it seriously.

Whats to stop a person from going to one international forwarder, someone like Exel / DHL and get an all up cost including freight. Then the only costs to worry abouyt would be quarintine and inspections?

What is required to do so? A seller?, freight costs, maf and customs costs plus a quarintine facility?? or am i missing something. I have to say its something i am starting to think seriously about. Any thoughts?

Thanks BlueandKim, its going to be a african cichlid tank. The type from their is still up for debate, i have a mixed 4 ft at the moment which is a bit naughty but i am leaning toward Tanganyika for the Alto Comps as a starting point if i can find enough, but knowing me will no doubt mix in a few that i shouldn't. Once i learn how to take a descent photo i will put up some progress ones.

With me building a cabinet for an 8 ft tank and wanting one of these filters, how high would the cupboards need to be. I don't want the tank overwhelmed by the cabinet?
