Thanks Caryl, I know my post sounded vague but I went to the pet shop only intending to buy zebra danios to help cycle my tank. My son was with me and fell for the gouramis but I had done no research on their habitat or behaviour. On top of this I came home with leopards instead of zebras so my best laid plans went awry :roll: We have four large plants and I will be adding more as soon as I can. Thanks again.

Hi guys, I feel a little silly asking this but you know how it is when you buy new fish - you just want to watch them! I recently put six leopard danios in with my two dwarf gouramis (trying to start the new tank slowly) - but they all keep hiding :roll: I dont have many plants yet but plenty of wood and bark with little hidey holes - too many I think :roll: I have only had them for two days but when will they come out so I can talk to them. Are they generally shy fish?

Thanks for the replies guys. I really didn't want to spend more money if I had a decent filter already that would do the job! I guess I will stick with the u/g. That's my decision today anyway, tomorrow it may change :roll:

Hi I have just bought a 5"x18"x18"tank. It came with u/g filter and a 1000lph powerhead. I feel loyalty to my lps (40km away - next closest is 150km away) & they don't keep canister filters & recommended aquaone 800 HOT. Everyone says dont use the u/g. Is this enough filtration? Please help. I dont know what fish I will put in it - maybe natives. PS This is my first post on a forum ever! I hope it made sense :-?

Just thought I'd say hi to all. I've been reading these forums for a while and love the way everyone is so helpful. I have had two 2ft easy tanks for a while (swordies, platies) but have just bought a 2nd hand 5'x18"x18" - I'm a complete newbie with big tank requirements! so please expect lots of questions! Thanks Qld - beautiful one day - perfect the next!
