  1. why would that be....it's not as though anyone knows where they live invercargil is a big place????
  2. Hi there, No news, and the courier company are not going to do a thing about it. But the guy who sent them to me has since sent me replacement lot, which i am very happy to say have arrived and are swimming around my tank as we speak. But this time they were delivered at the depot in the morning and i was expecting them the following morning, and they didn't arrive ...i was starting to think maybe im just not meant to have these fish?, i finally got hold of the courier company and they said becasue of the power cuts in Auckland they had not left the depot but i should expect them the following morning. i was starting to get very worried as to wether they would be alive when i received them. The bigger of the 4 was laying on it's side and it's movements were quite slow, i made the transition for them into the main tank nice and easy and added some Salt to the water.......i then had to head off to work......and i when i got home he was fine. So unfortunately someone out there has five beautiful Oranda......?
  3. Hi there, My Husband and I have been admiring your pond and we are considering making something similar for ourselves, you don't have to answer this question but for the pond itself what sort of money would we be looking at. Another idea we have for your pond and is something we will do with ours is to build a brick chiminea/ brazier would give it a lovely warm atmosphere at night sitting out there toasting marshmellows. Thanks Richelle
  4. Hi there, prob is i can't see if they ticked the box because i don't have the parcel. I will try to get through to the manager though. The desk ladies at nzcouriers are pretty slack in helping me out. Doubt they will give me there details though for the manager...but Fair GO might have better luck aye!!
  5. The only reason they wouldn't known if they were fish would be if they couldn't read becasue it had clearly on the lid in Black vivid LIVE FISH. But im gonna sleep alot better on that information thanks... I have been talking with the Police about it just so they can keep and ear out......i have also rang the LFS and the local Schools. Not alot else i can do for now. I am just wishing that someone feels guilty about it and pops them back on my doorstep tonight. doubt it though :-(
  6. Hey thanks guys for your good wishes. I am going to go up and down the street when i get home from work and knock on peoples doors asking if anyone saw anything. The thing is the courier said he dropped it off at about 6.30am(bloody early) we had a package dropped off from a different courier at 7.45am and Terry went out to that courier and didn't trip over a box of fish so it was taken between those times. I will keep everyone up to date. The guy that i brought the Oranda from is really lovely and said to me i am not to worry as he will send me some more fish. But i am more worried about these other Oranda hoping that a child doesn't have them swimming around in there mums cooking bowl?!!
  7. I have had some excitment in my house today. I was supposed to receive some beautiful Oranda, Large Chocolate, Large Calico, and 3 babies. They were supposed to be delivered by Newzealand Couriers. I was starting work at 10.00am so i was getting worried when they had not turned up by 9.00am. So i rang the courier company. They said that they had definately left Auckland but they had no record of them being delivered to me as yet, but they would look into it. Next thing the courier driver turns up on my doorstep and says to me ."didn't you get your fish" ? "i left them on your doorstep this morning".....WHAT!! i said left them on my doorstep? why would you do that. Did you not see that it said LIVE FISH on it....you should have knocked on my door. ...... Well they have gone now. All i can hope is that whoever does have them realises what they have and know how to look after them. Wish me luck in finding them...i think my chances are slim. The funny thing is though, i left my pram on the doorstep the other night ( a nice 3 wheel pram) and we frequently leave our shoes out there, but nothing has ever been stolen. Q .... theiving neighbours..... or theiving courier driver!! God knows. But im really upset about the welfare of the fish.
  8. Isn't that nice.....no one told me that at the LFS..great aye!. Oh well i only had 1 male swordtail. so heres hoping he didn't get any of my platies. Good to know ..thanks for that. by the way male guppie was dead this morning. It only seems to be killing off guppies for some reason.??
  9. I have moved the boys now, but one of them isn't swimming very well and his fins on the side of him are in a bad way they look half the size. He was really happy and healthy yesterday. His fins are really clamped aswell. Don't think he will make the night.
  10. well it was 2 females to every one male. But it is actually less females now!! Should i take the females out and put them in a different tank?? Seriously thinking of just keeping to all males anyway because it is cute having babies for the first few times but eventually we are going to have find homes for them......i have a 40L tank set up with 1 week old fry...metallic blue platies, guppies and a few swords. After that lot have gone i dont really want to breed anymore. I might just set up a tank of females now and see if i can rehome them. Will all the males be ok together in a tank to themselves?? or do they start fighting when there aren't any females around. Thanks Caryl
  11. I have had about 5 guppies one after the other die on me.! Can't figure out what is wrong with them? They clamp up there fins and sulk for a few days then they get a bloody area/ bruising on them, and can't swim properly.? Any ideas guys. Water is all good sometimes wander if i go over the top a little bit with the water changes in the tank. It is only a 2ft tank. i do a water change wed and sunday about 20% ? am i changing the water to often. i have mix of swords mollies platies guppies 25 all up -/+
  12. hey thanks heaps for your input. I will go have a browse around wetpets tommorrow and see what they have. Never really looked to much at those type of fish?? Thanks again
  13. Dimensions are 92cm x 50 x 30 What are severums like.....or will they get to big??
  14. i brought some discus a while back from auckland and they were on the overnight courier...and i was all excited in the morning up early all prepared for the new babys ...waiting waiting......no discus???? hmmm I was getting pretty angry rung the courier company they didn't know anything, the guy who sent them said they had definately gone!! Finally i tracked them down they were on the wrong truck! so i wouldn't be getting them till the morning. I was pulling my hair out, wishing i hadn't brought them thinking the poor blimin things they will be dead by now. Next morning the courier arrived, he new i was waiting on the delivery and i said to him at the door....ever seen dead expensive fish...wait here and have a look!...I opened the poly box..pulled back the scrunched newspaper to see 5 cute little discus swimming around. The water was cold!!. But they were fine ......i looked up at the courier and nearly gave him a hug ( i didn't though ) :-) happily ever after. I should become a story teller with some of my novels
  15. Just wanting to get some ideas on what we can put into our 3 foot tank. At the moment i have 2 goldfish i just borrowed them out of my uncles pond so they could give me a hand with the cycling of the tank. I wanted to put something pretty/ugly like oranda nice and gracefull, My partner wants something mean we can feed gumboots to. I put a few bids on the latest oranda on trade me but know way was i paying $650 for 5 baby red caps?? Good luck to there new owners though. So i have decided that because we are not going to re-mortgage the house to buy oranda...that he could put what he wanted in the tank......trouble is being 3 foot it's big, but not that big...not big enough for an oscar....so can anyone recommend some thing reasonably big aggressive, or something that has a bit of personality. doesn't matter if we can only have 1 fish in the tank. But preferably 2. Give me a few ideas thanks P.S sorry for the novel i got carried away
  16. Yes they are Tiger barbs, they can be kept in a community tank but can tend to be fin nippers they are cheeky little fish and are best kept in a good sized shoal that way the will keep to themselves.
  17. Hi there, i have a cambodian butterfly female and a blue male betta, in my 4 foot tank with 11 baby discus and cardinal tetras and 2 corys. The 2 bettas have bred, we woke up the other morning and there was a bubble nest with eggs in them and he was looking after them really well, then the next day they hatched and there were heaps of little babies. We were going to move them into a different tank but we didn't really know what we were doing and i wasn't sure if they needed there Dad or not and i didn't want to disturb them and then end up killing them so we just left them and in the morning they were all gone, he has now built another bubble nest and i think they are going to try again WHAT SHOULD I DO ?!!
