Swimming Worms

Featured Replies

For the last few nights we have spotted one or two worms, half an inch long swimming around our tank. They come out of a rock, swim to the surface, do a couple of laps and then go back to a rock... but one night before a worm returned to a rock our sailfin tang ate it. The tang was pretty sick lying on his side on the bottom as if paralysed for all of five minutes then fine again. They are white and swim like a sea snake, what are they and how do I get rid of them? Thanks

Bristle worms.

Free swimming juv bristle worms. I get them from month to month, often quite large storms of them (hundreds) the fish love em.

Nothing to be worried about, perfectly normal.

Oh that's interesting! I've seen them occasionally also, and always wondered what they were. They do swim like a sea snake!

Another mystery, once I found my sump swarming with tiny little critters swimming around, so small they could only barely be seen. Lasted a couple of days then gone, never found out what they were.

The tang ate the worm then spat it back up covered in mucas. It really knocked him out. Floated around with the water flows, nearly into my always hungry anenome....... I was wondering what they are cause I dont want my mate to die next time :hail:

I get the odd one that swims about like a spinning drill bit. They are really cool. About 8mm long and 1mm diametre.

Fish dont eat them, but they are cool to watch!

or with a bit of coconut cream while still wiggling (like they eat a kind of worm over there that comes from the sea {palolo worm}. i didn't try it :o and don't call me chicken but it was "juck" just to look at.
