Caryl
Aren't they are great looking fish? My daughter outlaw wants one but has to wait until her tanks matures a bit.
Ktttk
Nice looking ram! How long have you had him for? I keep reading that they seem to go belly up for no reason after a couple of months?

Caryl
Rams seem to be particular about water conditions, plus they like a mature tank.
Ktttk
cool.. did you manage to raise the other spawns?
sharn
kttk- the thing about alot of rams is they come from asia where theyre mass produced, inbred and filled to the brim with parasites. because of inbreeding it has made them very very weak fish- alot less hardy than they should be and unless you get lucky and get some of the better stock you will often find them carking it for no reason. i know people who are very experienced keepers who just have them die off for no apparent reason, happy one hour dead the next just my two cents
Ktttk
hey sharn, thats the exactly the type of things I've been hearing about them but i decided to give them a go and purchased a pair a couple of weeks ago. They are doing well at the moment and look like they will be spawning very very soon. Fingers crossed that the spawn goes well and that the parents are hopefully hardier than what I have read about them so far.
