shiuh
hi all, lately i have been trying to breed my wcmm. i left only java moss in the tank along with ramshorn snails (for cleaning purpose) and let the wcmm do their thing. i am saw some spawning activity in when i did the water change. but i am unable to find the eggs anywhere on the moss or tank bottom. i have breed them before and i can see eggs by using a strong light shining on the moss. one thing im not sure of is that i suspect ramshorn snails ate all the eggs? is this possible? i will leave this question to experience breeder out there. alextret
I had WCMM breeding a number of times, but and I never seen the eggs. I only new that breeding took place when fry appeared. I did have some snails with them (which I could not irradiate). Quite a bit of fry did hatch. Somehow, they seem to grow very slowly. I guess, I do not give them the right feed. Faran
Snails are great for fry tanks and livebearers but if you're breeding egg scatterers they're a big mistake. They eat eggs and can even gobble wrigglers. Mind you, WCMM eggs are TINY and you won't see them anyways without a good magnifying glass. Luke*
snails are scavengers and can harbour parasites as an intermediary, e.g between birds and fish so beware.
