puttputt
shame your fish are eating him, brittlestars can be good housekeepers. .......some can be good fisherman as well
wasp
Here is the best shot I could get of my one. When I first saw him he was small, maybe 3 inches spread out. Now he's maybe 9 inches spread out. Puttputt is right though some of them do catch fish, I used to have one of those! But not this one. He is rarely seen a harmless crap eater. puttputt
I've got one of the brown and black patterned ones Jansens was selling a while ago - reef bought them in i think - neat harmless fella, comes out now when i feed the fish. suphew
I think a lot of them eat snails to. I have a hairy crab about the size of a 50c, think he is hammering my snails, the are shells all over the tank.
wasp
Those hairy crabs get pretty bad press on RC for damaging acros, you had any problems? Once had this acro suddenly started looking bad, shone the torch on it one night & there was a hairy crab on it. Tried to catch it but he zapped into a hole he had tunnelled into the coral. No worries I thought, I'll block him in with aqua knead. Tried over a few days but he kept popping out other places. In the end I had to smash the coral to get him out, when it was smashed you could see he had the whole inside of it riddled with tunnels. puttputt
the hairy ones are bad, same experience, one of my acros starting getting its tips hammered, would be growing well, then the tip would look all thin and break off. Out looking at tank one night with torch, and theres a big hairy gorilla crab munching away on it. He's now in the ref.
reef
theres a big hairy gorilla crab munching away on it. They do that when they have no food to eat. only thing they can do if they are to survive. I have the same problem, but just leave it as they stop and the acro grows back
