TM
the glass would be weaker. I have also heard that you need to use the same glass for the side panels.
reef
true tm it is weaker and does scratch far easier. you do need to use the same glass for the sides as it reflects to the front glass so the green colour will darken the front panel. puttputt
reef, what glass would be weaker, is starfire more or less scratch resistant? Is TM saying that starfire glass is weaker than normal float? I'm asking because I'm looking at using it so need to know as i think your one of the few with it. I looked into it for my last tank, just did not think it was worth it. You could get acrylic cheaper which would be even clearer, though not buy much. reef
Star fire is weaker than clear float glass and it scratches easy. I have never heard of scratch resistant glass. I have 12mm star fire glass on my tank on the front and sides. Also have starfire bracing. Too be honest it is not worth the extra cost. my next tank will be normal glass. lduncan
The mods surely need to bring back the edit. I guess the low iron thing only really matters when your looking at 50mm glass
chimera
Glass-Shoppe can do 12mm at $471.31 / sq m. So it seems plenty of people can supply it, you just need to ask
puttputt
but if it scratches easy Chimera, don't think I do it.
