JDM
one of my plans for my tank this weekend is to hook up my new scwd to my return, i am using pvc pipe for my return but the fitting on the scwd has been designed for flexiable tube, ive had a bad experance with flexable tube and will not use it on my tank ever again! im thinking i will heat the pvc with a heat gun and use a hose clamp to shrink it to the scwd (it is a close fit to the barb on the scwd, i think its 20mm pvc and the scwd is 19mm at the barb) i will then remove the hose clamp, this might leak abit but i dont think that will matter as it will be submerged in my tank (so long as it cant blow off) sound like a good plan? :-? has anyone hooked a scwd to pvc? how did you do it? suphew
I did it using black irigation hose, was the right size to fit over the both the SCWD and 20mm pressure pipe. It stayed on fine but had to have hose clamps to stop salt creep out of it.
HelifaxNZ
I use short pieces of tube to link them. Look at my forum, this is how I did it and it works fine for me. http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/2-vt96 ... c&start=
beachy
Hmm, tricky, does pvc become soft when heated? the only other thing i could think of, would be to silicon or urathane the pipes together, but im not to sure how strong that would be though. Maybe if it came down to it, you could use pvc pipe up to the scwd, then flexible tube clamped to the pvc then to the scwd.

HelifaxNZ
Yeah Beachy. The SCWDs are made to be used with flexible tubing and clamps. I've never seen it attached directly to pvc.
