land_lubber
Hey just wondering what people thought is the best size tank for breeding a pair of african cichlids?
newbiesteph
It depends what african cichlids your tanking about tangs malawi's peacocks etc.. Some africans (like fronts) get to 30cm plus... Some more info on what your thinking would be good... And its also not good to try and breed africans as a pair as they're not pair forming fish and having 1 male to 2 or 3 females spreads the hate so you dont just end up with a male.. ryanjury
They will be some sort of zebra we weren't really impressed by the fish they had for sale, Except for their display tank we'd happily take (lol and we've already tried) their ice blue and aurora off their hands The fish they had were really small anyway probably at least half to a third the size of being mature and you may run into problems with just a pair or trio. Your tank will look better with more fish in it anyway. We have never done it that way before maybe someone else can help we just have a heap in a 4ft (soon to be a 5ft) tank and remove holding fish when we notice them, lots of rockwork and targets mean that any one fish doesn't take too much of a beating and even holding females are safe. newbiesteph
We were in there yesterday you should have come and said hi.. We've been trying to track down some auroras and red tops that good for ages now but have had no luck unfortunately.. 2ft is definately too small for any sort of african just not enough room we got 4 of our best (and cheapest) africans through a newbie buying 4 and sticking them in a 2ft and them shreading each other.. I would say 3ft min check out this site for some general info on what you should stick in what sized tank.. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/q ... e_list.php

Damiana
The Ice Blues are on special order, there's a big pile of them coming in September. I know this because I'm on the list. If you want it, they can order it. They've been more than helpful to me.
