Leave her in there, unless she is getting harrased to much. I prefer to strip at 2 weeks, so that the youngens are free swimming... others nearly straight away.

The first few times can be a concern as mums are learning the trade. I like to let them do there thing....Flamebacks are usually great breeders too. {touch wood}

I moved her to a tank on her own today,she was getting harassed a little but it was more so just to see how she rected to it.She only dropped 1 egg and still seems to have good mouthful.

See how she goes.

If she spits and doesn't eat the eggs i'll have a go at hatching them out myself.

  • 2 weeks later...

You can raise the fry on their own now if you want to.

Mum will be fine to if you want to seperate her from them.

She will eat now too. In situations like this, if you leave mum with fry. & if for example, their tank is in a multiple tank room, I feed them last. As in I just drop a bit of food in their tank & leave the room. With you gone she should release the fry & eat the food.

But I would take her out now. Will be tricky if she is taking back the fry.

Good Luck.

My only concern was people saying they strip at 18 days,was just making sure it wasn't to early.

When they were out they new what they were doing,and when I showed myself they knew to head for the mouth and it was quite amazing to watch her inhale them.

So,strip her,seperate them and feed her up ready to do it all again.

Also have a 2nd female holding,following the first one by 1 week.
