stu
I have noticed the last few days that several of my goldfish have become quite strange in there behavior. I have a few fish that swim erratically around the tank and some times 'rub' themselves on the gravel. Also I have another fish that seems to be 'bobbing' at the surface and swims lopsided. What’s going on??
fishboi
could be a few thing, the ph is too low making them act "hyper", ich if so u should see little white dots on them as for the one bobbing around is just swim bladder problem due to bad water quality or a bad diet to cause too much air in one of its swim bladder noting u can do but just feed better quality food and it should sort it self out. hope that helps and they get better
sharn
if they are specifically scratching themselves on the decor or substrate you might be looking at gill/body flukes, it annoys them a bit so they scratch to try dislodge the parasite. not sure what the bobbing could be... i dont know much about goldfish but maybe trying epsom salts or shelled peas might help just incase its a blockage/constipation? Caper
or shelled peas might help just incase its a blockage/constipation I feed my goldfish shelled peas once a week. Also, when I feed them their flake food, I put it under the water. Not to say the odd flake doesn't somehow get to the top but putting it under the water lessens the chance of swim bladder due to the gulping in air when they eat. I agree also what has been said about the scratching *shivers*. Like it was said if it is Ick you'll see white spots, kinda like someone took the salt shaker to them
