ljtan55
Hi guys Just wanna pick your brains about growing out brine shrimp. Is tonic salt good enough to grow them out, or do you need red sea salt? Anyways planning to put a several big gallon jars in a tank with the heater on the outside to heat them up, with aerators and bubbles - not too fine, in the store room which mostly in the dark. I've had several goes with them, and each time, there are millions of the little crawlies all over the place, and then the water goes cloudy, and they all die. Never had them grow bigger than a mm, and I was feedin them sea monkey food. Also do you need to seperate them from the eggs when it hatches? Caryl
I just had a plastic container about 40cm x 20 x 20 half filled with sea water. Added eggs (gathered from Lake Grassmere saltworks) and left it. They hatched, grew, reproduced etc with no input from me except to occasionally top it up with more sea water if I thought of it. Mind you, I wasn't feeding them to fish, just did it to see if they would, so not great numbers.
Luke*
Were these kept outside Caryl? What temp was it at? I've tried a few times with some outside in a 2 foot and green water and salt, but each time they've died off within a day or two.
