Faran
Ran across this nifty little unit on TradeMe and wanted to share it with y'all salties that might actually be able to do something with it. Opinions, please. Feel free to buy it if you want. Not my auction and I can't do anything with it unless I find some odd freshwater discus or fancy plec that loves ice water Then again, might buy it for the kitchen... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... d=53005506
Ira
I seriously doubt that would be overkill. It's probably fairly weak. Assuming it's similar to the one here at my work all it does is slowly cool maybe a liter of water. It's probably under 100 watts cooling. An average size marine tank could do with at least 500. And all the piping is probably copper which would wipe out all the inverts in a marine tank unless you rigged up some kind of heat exchanger to keep the water running through it from contacting the copper pipes. Still...$20 is worth a try...
Feelers
Its 300 watts by the looks of it. I think this is what it is.......... http://www.parex.co.nz/zenith/zenith_do ... illtap.pdf Not bad for $20 - even if you only use it for its intended purpose. Faran
Either way a bit pointless for aquaria.... specially with the copper pipes. Even if used for freshwater it'd kill catfish so - in the kitchen it goes!
