GeeTee
Woke up this morning to see this clinging to the side of my tank. It has made a cocoon like home and just moving around the tank. Have removed it now and in a container to study it. Any ideas on what it is?
Warren
Don't know what the worm is but the plant looks a bit like hornwart to me. If it is you need to remove it as it's nationally banned and illegal to have. The best way to dump it is to dry it and burn it. Do not put it in the trash or toss it into the nearest waterway... You can be fined up to $250,000 or get 7 years in prison for having this plant...
GeeTee
It is hornwart and am sure it is legal in Aus. There are acres of it in the local river,I get the tips off it, some of the fish like to eat it.
Warren
Oops, miised your location... Maybe the worm is not found in NZ. If you are collecting the plant from the wild it's likely to have come in with it. If it's a worm unique to Australia and not found in NZ, maybe nobody here will be able to help. GeeTee
It's worth a shot though Warren, thanks for your help. The plant was only collected 2-3 weeks ago, it may just have taken that long for it to come out of hiding so it probly did come in on the plant. Just hoping someone can help. After watching it for the day, there were a lot of lit green droppings in the container so it doesn't appear that it will be a danger to the fish
