Hey,

I'm about to put in an order for a new skimmer and power head and was wondering what your opions where on the items.

Weipro Protein Skimmer SA2011 and AquaClear Powerhead 402

The tank has a 200 litre capacity but I intend to full it full of rocks and stuff so probably will be alot less in actuallity.

deepblueaquarium.co.nz had pretty cheap atman pumps. They were 3500/lph for about $65, although they arent on the site anymore. I got mine with the weipro 2014, works well and came with heaps of attatchments for the ventuiri ect.

Uses a bit more power than lots of the other models though

We have all of the Pondmaster (Atman and Via Aqua - old brand name for these pumps in NZ if brought in by the main supplier) on our website http://www.petplanet.co.nz Cheapest price around unless someone is selling an end of line.

Those skimmers are on there as well but I know we are out of stock of one of them. Pump Capacity required 750L/H 180cm. Eheim 1250 Universal Pump or a Pondmaster 1800PH should do it. $179.95 or $75.95. Brooklands (the main importer of Weipro skimmers) recommend the Ehiem 1250 as the correct size pump, but then they import them.

We also have the 402 powerhead for $69.95.

Not sure how good the skimmer is, should be excellent for a tank that size.

The 402 powerhead is an excellent powerhead. VERY reliable. They have been around for years and are not as popular due to cheap Chinese pumps but I think they are far superior. You can add a quick filter to them which makes an excellent barrier to fish etc getting sucked in.
