sharn
snails may be eating the eggs?
whitecloud
I thought dat was the problem but how could i get ride of them? they are breeding all the time
sharn
hard to get rid of... probably the easiest way is to just setup a whole new tank and let it cycle and dont add anything that could carry snails or their eggs on it without boiling it first. im a bit hesitant to use that snail rid stuff myself but might be worth a shot also? Newtman
i have snails in with my wcmms and they are all sweet, have huge numbers of fry still,if the snails did have an effect on the fry numbers ,well didnt realy notice it. but what give what sharn says ago if u find that things arent going right with them. or invest in a good snail eater, like a loach mabye....most wont be botherd with the tiny fry so no probs there, and once they are around the surface they will be completly out of the loaches way. Caryl
I would not expect the snails to have that much effect on wcmm unless your tank was totally over-run with them. It may be the warmer temps slowing down the fish breeding.
whitecloud
so i should just leave it for now and see if the prob Persists go for the clown
Caryl
I would. Perhaps it is too hot to get busy (if you get my drift ) If snails are few, squish them to death.
whitecloud
kool ill just catch them and put them in one of the other tanks. the fresh water puffer loves eating them
suphew
I agree with Caryl, I think it will be the heat, WCMM breeding is triggered by cold water entering the tank, it makes them think it has just rained, becuase of the warm weather it's likely your top up water is a similar temp to the tank water.
