HelifaxNZ
Hi, just wanting to know whether you can have Acros and Monti's in close proximity or even touching each other without any adverse effect? Cheers.
lduncan
Some time yes, often no. Best to avoid it. Layton
Pies
Yes and no. Some of mine are almost touching, some die when close. Often I find is the acropora that wins but the montis typically grow quicker. Pie
cookie extreme
just as pies said. the acro seems more potent and both die a bit, the monti more then the acro. but and its a big but the monti grows so much faster that most acro's can't keep up. monti moves closer and the battle start again and again and again. in the long run the monti (esp. capricornis) will win. i have been scrapping it back with tweezers and it still keeps coming back. kalkwasser paste works too. it can become a real nuisance in the long run. :-? cracker
If my Monti falls over into an Acro...the Acro wins hands down and the Monti sulks for awhile.
lduncan
I think some encrusting monti's can pack more punch that any acro. I had a frag fall onto one, and lost about an inch of it over night. No sign of any damage to the monti. Digitata's are just weak Layton
HelifaxNZ
Thanks for your answers. One other question. Can Acro's touch each other? The same goes for Monti's?
reef
Sometimes they can . but in general i have seen them sting each other. They can however grow into each other.
