lduncan
The hosting account for my domain www.nzreefs.com has had a bump in storage and monthly traffic allowances. I now have 5 gig of storage, and 250 gig of monthly traffic for no additional cost to me. So i was wonder how many people would be interested in having there own area on nzreefs.com to setup and manage their own marine tank related webpage / blog, or for hosting of images etc? If a few people are interested, i will explore further some php based tools which allow a geocities type function, where you get a site such as www.nzreefs.com/username/ or alternatively a sub-domain like username.nzreefs.com Layton
Pies
I'd love some space to get my homereef.co.nz site back up an running (I still own the domain name. Sounds like a great idea, be cool to be able to link to your own template or wot not from the 'members tanks' section here as well. lduncan
Unfortunately, it's a pretty basic package I have hosted by godaddy so i don't have the option or control to add virtual hosts, so the base domain would have to be nzreefs.com But you would have total control of what you upload and how you want it presented etc.
Pies
Yep thats a good idea, I am sure you will get heaps of takers. For those interested creating a web page can be as easy as using MS word. Give it a go, impress your friends! Pie

lduncan
Ok, got installed a pretty crude script which will do what I want for now. I'll clean it up and make it a bit more user friendly as I have time. To setup your sub site go to http://www.nzreefs.com/sites/ Layton
Fay
I have signed in now what do I do?
lduncan
When you login and go to the "Members Area" you get a list of "Choose File" buttons. If you click on those you can choose files from your computer to upload to your webspace. Once you have chosen a file or files, click the upload button, then after a few moments it will tell you that the files have been uploaded, and it will display their names on the left had side of the window. You can then access the files you uploaded by going to http://www.nzreefs.com/sites/login name Like I said the script isn't exactly user friendly at the moment. lduncan
for example, that huge 6 meg photo you uploaded you can access at http://www.nzreefs.com/sites/faysmarine ... oject4.jpg Layton
Fay
small photo now but how did you get it up
lduncan
ok your base address is http://www.nzreefs.com/sites/faysmarinetank/ so all the files which you have uploaded go into the directory. You can then access them by linking to http://www.nzreefs.com/sites/faysmarinetank/filename.jpg So the smaller image that you uploaded had a massive name (January 2005 109 306x350 292x335 287x330 286x329 282x325 227x320.jpg) I remaned it to January 2005.jpg and is accessible here: http://www.nzreefs.com/sites/faysmarinetank/January%202005.jpg It's best to avoid long names as they are a pain to type, and also really long names cause problems on the web. lduncan
yip, you don't need an email address to sign up, just a user name for the address which will be: http://www.nzreefs.com/sites/username Layton
Fay
I found I had to use lower case letters
