Will the floor hold ?

I would be a little worried. It would all depend on what sort of structure is under the house, whether you are putting it on an internal/external wall etc.

From a lot of the older houses I have been under, the wood starts to get a little brittle with age. Also some of the older hosues, the pile spacing was not uniform. Some even used old tree trunks as piles :)

Best thing to do is get under there and have a good look. You may even be able to build a small frame underneath to support the extra weight.

I have about 1000kg on my floor now, that was built in 1846 (yes 18 ).

Dont worry about it. The way I think about it 600kg = 6 largish guys, if you had a party would you even think about 6 guys and there girlfriends dancing, jumping up and down next to each other on your floor?? couse not, the building codes rates floors and something like 800kg per square meter. And lastly has any one ever heard of a tank actually going through a floor??
