Brianemone
take a look in here: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-01/totm/index.php Nice powder blue and take a look at his methods. i was surprised that he had tangs in that tank as it is quite small in terms of tang tanks, his water quality is obviously incredible though and he is obviously very diligent in his husbandry. Brianemone
yeah in saying that though he did get some of the fish know he was going to a bigger tank. he did stir up an internal conflict as to wether i will use zeovit or ozone (where is the head hitting the wall smiley?) cracker
Thats one way to look at it. Another way to look at it would be that the only reason they bring them in is because people buy them... But i've been wrong before. Pie Agreed.
cracker
You could say the same for copper bands, Achilles tangs, powder browns, leopard wrasse, morish idols, etc. What happens to all the fish that come in. over 1000 fish a month come in and we have less than 200 hobbyist. Most fish die. even the basic coral beauties. Powder blues, Achilles tangs, powder brown don’t have any scales so they get white spot easy. Problem is that most powder blues might have been cyanided. I think if you have a well matured tank they should be ok. Water quality is the key to success. Not trying to piss anyone off here! Just thought the topic in WWM was interesting, but the other fish you mentioned are agreeably the same. Experienced reefers should be the only ones trying these types of fish IMO. Water quality and quite often enough room.
lduncan
Water quality and quite often enough room. Very true, I think it is a combination of both. Layton

Pies
Hahahahaha. Wow what a revelation - you need good water paramaters to keep the fish successfully. Pie
