nik007
Hi, I have a tank with a light hood that takes a 1 standard 18" T8 15Watt bub. I am trying to find a bulb with a higher wattage but can not find one. Does one exist or is 15 watt the standard for an 18" tube? Are there any easy work arounds? Luke*
Sorry I think you're stuck with it. 4 foot = 36/40w 3 foot = 30w 2 foot = 18w from memory. Someone with electrical knowledge might know how you can rig up additional lights however
DiverJohn
HI Nik Are you sure you have got your numbers correct?? 18 inches is 1 & 1/2 foot? Can you check with a ruler?? Even the lenght in cms will be OK. At one end of the tube there will be some printing... might be like this... Osram L 30W/72 What does yours say??? nik007
Hi, The bulb I have is a Hagen Aqua-Glo 18" (43.74cm). All the shops I have looked at have 15 watt bulbs in this length. On overseas sites I have seen bulbs marked as VHO (Very High Output) which are higher wattage but have not seen any locally.
Ira
18" bulbs are pretty common. I have one of those dual arcadia? light units that takes 18" T8s. They're 15 watts each. Not much you can do but add more bulbs or deal with it.
