HelifaxNZ
Not on the North Shore. You need to invest in a UPS

HelifaxNZ
Like I said the other day, you need a portable air con unit! Yesterday was the hottest day so far for me. My tank reached 26.4C and my tropical reached 27C!

chimera
Its not the temp thats gonna kill your fish its the dropin O2 & ph from no water movement, u could buy a battery driven airpump so true, to a certain degree (excuse the pun ) Lack of O2 is a big killer, hence another reason why water movement is so important. Has anyone got any sources for battery driven powerheads? I wanted to rig one up (so that it comes on when the power goes off) in the display tank ages ago but could not find anything decent. puttputt
For $600 odd dollars for my 2.2Kw (1.8 cont) genny, its worth every cent. Just take a look at the thread about costs so far and you quickly realise its not alot of expense. My gen was from Bunnings but its a bit bigger with tube frame, large tank that runs 12hrs easily, and runs every thing on my tank (and the TV if a test match is on) except the lights as they are hard wired. lduncan
True, and a reason why DSB tanks often don't fear as well in power outages, the sand bed is a HUGE consumer of oxygen. More so than any other animal in the tank. Layton
