bradwats
Hi people - new guy here - just bought an Aquaone AR-980 tank yesterday - set it up late this afternoon. When I switch on the powerhead/filtration, very little water comes through the spray bar, however, I find that a lovely cascade of water flows down the wall behind the tank (it pumps out of the hole that the power cords go through). Has anybody ever encountered this before? Will be grateful for any information that anyone can provide... All pieces seem to be attached correctly. Thanks people - looking forward to being able to enjoy the tank, without soggy carpet... hehehe Seeya
Billaney
Hi We have one of those tank and have had no problems , I'd carefully check where the waters leaking from because it must be something not connected correctly , either that or the spray bar with the holes in it is on back to front , the part that connects to the rubber glove should not have holes in it for about the first 8 cm , and the holes go right to the other end, check is this is on back to front. bradwats
Thanks for the very quick response, Billaney... Have just checked that the spray bar is corrected around the right way, and it is as you described it. What I did notice, however, is the angle tube that leads from the powerhead to the spraybar does not "click" into the power head - it just sits in the hole at the top of the powerhead. Is this how yours is? Advice appreciated
Billaney
sounds right , a pretty tight fit tho , no leak on mine there Its a rubbery connection with a black gromit to hold it in place
bradwats
Hi Billaney Looks like I have success - the sleeve the slides over the angle tube DOES click into the power head as opposed to the actual angle tube which just sits in the hole... also noticed that the black piece with the two clips that holds the powerhead was only fully clipped in on one side... Fixed both of these problems and the spraybar now SPRAYS, instead of offering a pathetic dribble and my wall is no longer getting wet. Many thanks for your assistance, Billaney... Much appreciated
bradwats
Hi Billaney... guess who??? ahhaha Just wondering whether you have your tank filled to the 80% mark, as advised in the "instructions" (not sure the brief amount of information they provide warrants the term). One of the guys at the shop I bought the tank from mentioned that I could completely fill it but I'm reluctant to do so unless I know that someone else has done so with no problems. Please advise at your earliest convenience. bradwats
Billaney
Yes we almost filled our 99% , if we go any more it leaks thru the rim plastic even though its not over the rim. have had no problems with it like that . Good luck As you can see full

Caryl
He's got MTS real baaad  You can also use duct tape around the top of the tankl if you want the water level lower but don't want it to show under the lid. Black looks good but it depends on what colour your cabinet is so you might be able to get tape to match. My tanks have silver tape along the top so I can drop the water level so there will be less slop in quakes
bradwats
Kewl - thanks Caryl... btw - what is 'MTS'?
Caryl
Multiple Tank Syndrome. A medical condition with no known cure except for the sufferer to go and buy more tanks. 8)

Tony.Bates
Also, if you fill yours full (like mine is) be sure to take out some water BEFORE putting your arm in the tank for any reason. (your sky decoder, and television will thank you for not flooding them)
bradwats
hehehe... thanks for the advice, Tony.Bates... Sounds like the voice of experience
Tony.Bates
I wish I could say it wasn't but sadly it is. The seal between the plastic rim and the glass seems to have gaps in it, so leaks like a chocolate tea pot. I have also found (you may have discovered this) that if you dont like the power cable from the lights sticking out the side, you can feed it under the filter tray, and out the cable duct in the rear. The last bit of advice around the 980, if its sounding like a waterfall, make sure the black coarse foam is on top, this will stop it making most of the noise. Cheers Tony
bradwats
Hi Tony Thanks for the advice. I have fed the power cord for the light out the cable duct in the rear already and will try putting the black coarse foam on top - have noticed a bit of a waterfall noise but it's not too bad... better than when the waterfall was down my living room wall... hahaha
HelifaxNZ
What I have done to stop the waterfall noise from the outflow on the right is to cut a small piece of the fibrous foam filter stuff (the filter that you have on the very top of the white pads) and place it on top of the hole on the top. This will allow the water to flow down the tube quieter. It works a treat and you will be able to hear the TV
bradwats
Thanks Helifax... definitely worth trying...
