cracker
I have imported, (finally), a bed resin for my DI unit from Germany. I have added half of this product directly below my mixed bed resin. This silicic acid resin is solely designed to remove all incoming silicates before entering the tank. Standard Mixed Bed resin will only stop Diatoms for a short period and will then alow silicates to flow on through into the tank. The Silicic acid resin is designed to remove it for the entirity of the DIs life of around a year. Testing is underway! I should have Zero diatoms from now on unless my NSW brings in a few. If this is the case, the Diatoms should only last around a week and then disappear.

cracker
Its just resin slappers! Nothing to see. I just saw a post by a denmark reefer who reckons silicates will feed Cyano also.... Very interesting. Denmark water is apparently very high in silicates and they have to use silicic acid resin to eradicate Cyano. Mmmm....... I will be posting results as they unfold. misnoma
Can you use such stuff not in a DI filter?
cracker
Not very effectively unless you built something similar to one!

cracker
Yeah, I didnt get it for Cyano. I got it for Diatoms, however it look as though silicates may be the cause for Cyano also. My Cyano is melting rapidly...could be the VODKA though!
