ghostface
i am upgrading from a 260l setup to 750l. i intend to use NSW as i currently do in the smaller tank, , and dont want to use any of the water in my current setup. this is essentialy a 100% water change - does anyone see a problem with transferring livestock into the new tank. obviously temp and ph will be same / close as poss. i will also be going to a 400w halide and a 150w (all i have at the mo) from just a single 150. i know this may be a shock to some of the corals, not sure how much this will be a factor in their acclimatization, or where to place them initially. wasp
I've got 3 seperate systems, but keep the parameters similar. When I transfer fish I just net them, & drop straight into the other tank. Never been an issue & fish settle quickly, it's probably less stressful than going through an acclimatisation process. The halide, one idea when going more powerful, is to set the new halide very high, and gradually lower it to the desired position over a few days/weeks, observing corals for any sign of burning during the process. However for 750 litres, I would have thought you would want more than one halide, 2 or 3 250's would give a more even spread. Also, a 400 is not 400/250 X more powerful than a 250. The increase in light output tapers off relatively, as you go higher wattage.
