ASW test results

Anyone that uses ASW tested their salt lately? I tested mine a few days ago.

Crystal Sea

KH 9.3 (Good)

Calcium 390 (Low)

Magnesium 1050 (WAY low!)

That's all I tested. I've got some chemicals on the way to fix those though.:)

Going to be like 400grams of magnesium I'll have to add each water change!

A lot of ASW is low in magnesium. Red Sea it one that comes to mind.

Instant Ocean is often low (lower that I prefer) in alk and calcium.

Calcium levels of 390 aren't particularly bad. Around 350 is apparently the limit to where it becomes the limiting factor in calcification (alk usually is).

I stick with either Red Sea, or Instant Ocean. I'd use IO if I could get it in 40kg boxes for the same price as Red Sea.

i too use red sea (have magnesium chips in my CR due to the low levels in the salt mix).

i think the levels would be OK if we all used tapwater but who wants to?

don't know why the manufacturers don't increase the levels for RO/DI water, can't cost much more to do and the once who did would have the "cutting edge" over other makersin the market.

The Mag and Calcium I get is the purest in country, (Couldnt find anything purer anywhere).

....took me bloody days of searching , but found all chemicals 100% pure. (Used in HUMAN medicine)

Good prices too.

APS is crap grade in comparison.

My SPS are awesome, they are very happy.

Sounds good. Where did you get them and how much?
