HelifaxNZ
I've dis-assembled the impeller area and found that there is a lot of movement forwards and backwards which gives a knocking sound. After re-assembling I placed it in the water, switched it on and then covered the outlet hole to give it some back pressure. Sure enough it started to make the knocking sound. If I place the water inlet facedown and tried the back pressure again, it was fine, or at least very little knocking. I'm going to contact HFF and ask them about this. HelifaxNZ
Took it back and they didn't have another one spare so they're going to order a replacement. They recon it could be a faulty impeller. So will hear from them Mon or Tuesday.
chimera
And the problem is......... the problem is it's not a screw type fitting. return would be ok but i'd never use a non-screw type fitting on a closed loop.
dogmatix
Using a heat gun to expand the pvc then slip over the fitting gives an extremely good fit, then poo it up with silicon and the up's could make for a great closed loop. We've modified the two up7 closed loops at work and they are now creating massive amountgs of flow. (How ever i didnt plumb those up and i wouldnt have done it slightly differently). Allthough id probably use a reef sequence pump for c/loops.
