AMAZONIAN Posted November 11, 2005 Report Share Posted November 11, 2005 It is sad that one looses their first spawning of a species they have just got, but TIGHT Tank covers with Killie's are a must. In my earlier years with killies I used to stick "FOAM DRAUGHT STRIP" aroud the edges of the tank lids. This was extremely successful as the foam sealed all the imperfections and chips in the glass whike still retaining the temperature and Stopping ther Fish from escaping. It's normal place of use is between the door jamb and the door, stuck to the jamb, can also be used on older type windows. About 10mm wide and 5mm thick. My method works for me because I put the "SEALING STRIP" on the lid after cleaning it with Methylated Spirit and as the tanks were serviced daily I wanted something that would stay the distance, and it did for me. But, whatever you do end up using make sure that ALL KILLIE TANKS are virtually "WATERTIGHT". Good luck with a great species of fish.
