Luke*
Is the technical name Ancistrus Dolichopterus? Someone thinks it may be Ancistrus Temminckii. If so this amazingly doesn't appear to be "done" for the MAF fish study. Can someone advise me of the correct name and I'll send it in. Also can someone please send me a reference to this, ISBN, pg#. Thanks
Caryl
I think you will find most bristlenoses in NZ are Ancistrus lineolatus

Alan
Well if it is for the MAFia Study, put both of them in for reference. Miss one, loose it. Alan
Caryl
I don't have a reference Luke sorry. The only reason I think that Kyle is that it is what I was told a number of years ago. They were supposedly brought into NZ in one lot and subsequently bred by Jan Payne who then gave them away to many other hobbyists over the years. It may or may not be so. I suspect they are all very similar anyway and probably all hybrids. Also possible it is the same fish with a name change over the years. The Baensch Atlas says identifiying Ancistrus species without detailed morphological studies is very difficult. Photograph the fish twice then call it both sp Ancistrus dolichopterus Baensch Atlas 3 ISBN 1-56465-185-1 page 365 Ancistrus temminckii Baensch Atlas 3 ISBN 1-56465-185-1 page
Luke*
Thanks for those refs.... i thought it would be such an easy question because they're so popular but that's almost their downfall...because they may have morphed. I'll just put down both names and state they could be known as either. Does anyone know if it's submissions to Warren by 15th, or does he have to have to MAF/govt by 15th?
