minchton
My allard clown has suddenly started going crazy. It is twisting over and over, diving from the top to the bottom of the tank and even leaping out of the water. There is a yellow tang, percula clown and yellow tailed damsel in the same tank with no problems. Help appreciated please. Will go and do water tests shortly

wasp
This may sound dumb, but could he have been constipated? Reason I say that, about maybe 6 months ago my sailfin tang started acting the same how you describe. Was doing it for several days and getting worse, thought he was soon to die. Also noticed he had a bulging stomach, more so than normal. It was so bad he was crashing into rocks etc and getting cut. Then, I actually saw it happen, as he was charging around, suddenly he did HUGE poos, I mean HEAPS of it. Not the normal looking stuff either. And from that very moment he was back to his normal self. MUST have been constipated. I realised I had been feeding him almost exclusively flake for quite a while, perhaps not enough roughage for a tang, I'm not sure. However I've fed a lot of nori ever since that time. minchton
When I took it out of the tank and checked it I found a centipede type worm stuck between its gills. I guess this was causing it great stress hence its behaviour. It is always one of those difficult calls. Do you take it out of the tank and check it and cause it uneccesary stress which may kill it or in this case possibly find the cause and save it. Pies
Mitch - Are you sure it wasn't a bristle worm? Bristle worms will get stuck in within minutes of an animal dieing they can detect dead flesh. Pie
minchton
I bow to your expertise. As it died overnight this is most likely the answer for the worm. Thanks for that. Now I am totally in the dark.
