electricfish37
Has anyone got any good ideas about those hopeless plastic suction cups supplied with heaters, filters etc.? Mine always go hard, and lose their suction. With my Eheim internal filters, I overcome the problem partly by suspending the filter with a piece of soft copper wire, bent over the side of the tank with a heavy bolt dangling outside the tank as a balance weight. It sort-of works but is not very elegant! Unfortunately most of these suckers have non-standard ends to connect to the heater or filter, so I don't think its just a case of buying a new suction cup. Are they available as spare parts from Eheim, etc.?
Ira
I've heard that soaking them in vinegar and water for a little while helps. I tried mine in straight vinegar overnight and they turned all floppy and porous. So, maye a 50:50 mix for like 2 hours?

electricfish37
Thanks Rocketman - I bought some from Bunnings on Sunday. Now all I have to do is find some way of attaching them to heaters, filters, etc. I'm going to try glueing them with some silicone adhesive.
