YAY! I've finally got my tropical tank set up! I couldn't resist...

Just for the info, I've got a Millenium 1000 filter - great little thing actually!and an Elite800 powering an airstone, and a thermometer/thermostat/heater in one type doohickey...

And - for the fish, I've got 12 neon tetras in there at the moment, thinking about getting some more peppered cats, as they are cool. Would've thought about a Pleco, but I saw a *monstrous* sized one at Hollywood Fish Farm over the w/end, and the guy told me that it was only a 1/4 of its full size! Those things get HUGE!!!!

And now it's question time

What else could I get into a 56L tank with those neons? I was thinking of getting a loner Angel, but I've heard that they get aggressive...

Was also thinking of getting a few clown loaches, mebbe a black ghost knife, some glass cats etc etc

Also need to get a proper light/hood for the tank, as at the moment, I've got an incandescent desk lamp on it :P

And - btw - the coldwater tank is going well, I've finally managed to sex the minnows (I think) and from what I can see, I've got 2 boys & 2 girls, and the loner peppered cat.

Just waiting upon the moss, and then I can have baby minnows!! :D

Well, that's all from me for today

shhhhh don't tell my two angels that :D I have had two angels swimming quite happily and peacefully with 20+ neons. Also a siamese flying fox (siamese algae eater - NOT to be confused with the chinese algae eater). I suggest read, read, read and then armed with knowledge go looking and see what healthy fish appeal to you - love shopping for fish

Hi Lexy,

I too have heaps of neons in with my adult angels.... no probs whatsoever.

Mind you, they were all bought young and have grown up together.

Plopping half a dozen neons into a tank of angels is not the way to make them compatable, although the angels won't object I wouldn't think :):)

Introducing new fish late at night just before lights out sometimes helps, and re-arraging the "furniture" sometimes breaks the boundary's of the resident fish.

Great to have you with us BTW :)
