yota
Has anyone used anything other than rigid PVC for there closed loop and return plumbing setup's that was cheaper and as reliable. Can we get the flexible PVC pipe like they have in USA?
Pies
Gued/screwed pressure pipe is used by most because its safe. You can use whatever you want, push fit, snap on, john guest, down pipe it all works. The thing to remember is if your going to drill holes bellow the water line, is saving a few hundred dollars worth the risk. The answer to that question can be found by the number of people using pressure pipe over everything else. Pie
chimera
Can we get the flexible PVC pipe like they have in USA? yes, i think joeblogg is using it. not my cup of tea though, stick with rigid pvc pressure piping where possible. suphew
I'm sure I read that flexible pipes have a far higher frictional resistance, not that I guess it would matter too much with the short plumbing involved in the closed loop. Also the plastic must be softer so the elbows would wear out faster
DiverJohn
Also the plastic must be softer so the elbows would wear out faster Try " Healtheries Jointex" my dad swears by it
chimera
Also the plastic must be softer so the elbows would wear out faster elbows in flexible hose,... now thats clever, not.
Bluetom
for my two cents, i would have thought rigid would allow for better transfer of pressure from one point to another due to flex have the ablity to move under pressure. chimera
go figure
Ira
The pressures are going to be pretty constant, so the moving isn't going to matter. And anyway, it's not like there's going to be THAT much flexing or expanding of the hoses at the pressures we're dealing with. I say go with whatever's most convenient for your situation. I think I prefer flexible hoses because it gives you some adjustment room for moving bits and pieces. But going around corners may crush a bit, so you could put in some elbows to keep it from narrowing, pbpbptt, Chimera.

Pies
Its not the corners that worry me, its how you attach the pipe to the fittings. I will NEVER go back to the days of hose clamps being all the stands between me and a mop. Pie

Feelers
Hey chimera how much did the PVC cost for your overflow?
Pies
Use down-pie for the inside of the overflow, cheaper But use Pressure rated PVC everywhere else. Pie
