minchton
Has anybody experienced any problems with "Jabo" or "Aqua one" heaters. I see the price difference is minimal but I'm not willing to risk my fish with cheap heaters that break down in a very short time.
Jo1
We have been using Aqua One heaters for the last 2-3 years. Perhaps out of 60 heaters we have had to send a couple back.
petplanet
We sell Aqua One and had some Jebo that we got on special. Equal quality. If you want a good heater then get a Jager. Will cost a lot more but has a three year guarentee, tempered glass and a better heating ability. We sell a 300W for $57.95 and they claim it is good enough to heat up to a 1000 litre system. 300W Aqua One might cost about $35 and is good for about 300 litres. I have cracked a fare few Visi Therms and Aqua Ones and had heaters with broken coils.
minchton
Thanks Michael Part of my reason for asking this question was to get the experience of other members. Up until about a year ago I would not have considered any other type of heater but a Jager. Since then I dont think there is a member of our club who has not had a problem with Jager and they have such a bad name down here that the not one of the LFS will even consider stocking them. In fact the shop I normally deal with told the Rep in no uncertain terms to take them out of their shop and not come back. From my searches on the net it appears Jager no longer manufactures but I seem to recall reading somewhere that Jager heaters are now manufactured by Eheim. Do you know if this is correct and have they therefore improved in quality and reliability. thanks
