vimmer
yo! My mate is thinking about setting up a tropical aquarium. At the moment he has 8 neon tetras and a rainbow shark in a 60l tropical tank. He would like to know if he would be able to add a red-tailed black shark into the tank. I'm not too certain about the natures of any of these fishies so I thought I'd ask you guys. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Cheers y'all

Cheers y'all This fish is very territorial and can be aggressive, particularly towards its own species, but also to others, especially similar-looking species. Therefore it is advisable not to mix it with other Epalzeorhynchos. The aggressive nature can become more apparent with age. Good tankmates would include robust midwater fish such as barbs, rainbowfish, and tetras.
Caryl
A 60L tank is not big enough for sharks.
vimmer
Thanks for the advice, I'll pass it on. I had a feeling that 9 fish in a 60lt tank would be overstocking.. but I'll let him read this all for himself. At least he's got his tank set up - my two have been sitting empty since May... (i have imaginary fish). Thanks again
Cath
The problem with the sharks is they are beautiful looking fish and are sold quite small but most of them grow rapidly and end up being very big fish. Evrytime I see a red tailed or black shark I long to get one but even thought my tank is 80cm +40cm I think there is just not enough room. I prefer small fish in big tank so they can play.
