HelifaxNZ
Hi Folks, I'm wondering how far down from the water line should you drill the holes for your sump return pipes? Cheers Helifax.
chimera
you mean for a syphon break? so long as it's UNDER the normal running water line you're sweet. maybe 1" or so. the idea keeping it under it crucial otherwise you'll get a nasty spray/noise and salt creep. calculate the (approx) volume above the hole you drill and ensure your sump can account for that extra volume... or are you talking about the hole in your sump FOR the return pump? if this, then keep it up a little from the bottom so no detritus that settles here gets sucked into the return.
