chimera
This is a very interesting thread - heres a link to page 16 of a discussion on what type of skimmers are best (mainly about thin tall necks vs short fat necks, venturi performance etc) One thing I found interesting was Stuart's post (I think this dude works for Deltec?) 4th post down regarding the metallic washers. i notice the metallic washers on the eheim pumps in my deltec skimmer are very worn, one almost falling off. they are apparently to stop the pinwheel from hitting the endcap when the power to the skimmer pumps goes off - but it also causes lower performance because the pinwheel is held further back "increasing the space where water can pass between without contacting the pinwheel"... http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=332134&perpage=25&pagenumber=16 i might take them off next skimmer maintenance. they are so small anyway i dont think they are doing a great deal. reef
I think this dude works for Deltec?) He works for d&d in london. I have never seen these washers on a Deltec, Yours must be a very old model, I think it came from Andrew who got it second hand from Germany and then sold it to Arron.
