Caper
Sorry mind has been off and forgot to post this question. Tonight is the last treatment of the Parasite Clear for my fishy. I know I have to take out the carbon filter and have to leave it out for 48 hours after treatment. This was a new filter I put in after the last treatment...is there anyway I can keep this filter from going "bad" so that I can put it back in 48 hours from now or should I just discard it?????? Also, learned important lesson tonight...never vacuum fishy tank when crying...first time ever I vacuumed up a fish. One of my neons, I put him back in the tank...is there anything I should watch for? He was still swimming just fine in the bucket and when I put him back in the tank...poor fishy
HummingBird
There should be enough bacteria in your tank to re-seed to carbon when you put it back in. Don't sweat it
Caper
Thanks Hummingbird...one more question  do I need to keep it wet or can I just take it out and leave it?
Caryl
All carbon should be removed from a filter before any medication or treatment!
Caper
It is one of those "all-in-one" so to speak...carbon & blue fiber filter cartridge...it sits behind the bio filter. I was told by the company that makes the Parasite Clear that "The reason for the carbon removal is that it would filter out the medication." Anyway...do I need to keep the filter wet??? How should I store it till I put it back in in 48 hours??? Thanks for all the help
HummingBird
If you wanted to keep it alive you could put it in your other tank, but like I said there's probably enough bacteria in the tank itself to reseed the filter. It doesn't really matter where you keep it.
