monaro1
yes you can,you must get one suitable for aquariums (fosroc, silaflex rtv glass & ceramics, clear) get it from miter 10, bunnings, placemakers and so on make sure it is dry,one drop of water is one leak let dry,as a rule 1mm of silicone equals 1 day to dry,10mm = 10 days use glove not bare skin finger
Pies
No. Monaro1, sorry man you are well of base. Silicone (e.g. fosrock RTV) will not adhere it PVC or rubber. It may stick a little bit not enough to hold it together. Take it from someone whos tried, it will not work. For PVC its easy, get a PVC adhesive. As for gluing rubber to PVC for a strong waterproof seal. I'm not sure. Good luck. Pie
Jo1
The only way to get silicone to adhere to acrylic is to use Fosroc Sealer No 9. Apply, leave 20 mins and then silicone. Done this hundreds of times and it works well, only problem is the primer is expensive around $30 and it would probably be cheaper to replace tank. Pegasus
Hi MC, According to the ad, it says.. Great looking tall curve glass tank! .. but you say it is Acrylic.. Not familiar with these ready made tanks.. but it looks pretty deep for a self repair job.
