Compact Breeding Setup

Interested in line breeding guppies but you don’t have the space available?

The current breeding setup that I have can be practical for limited space people,

you can be amazed how a few tanks could be fitted into a small bedroom.

This is a DIY project, low cost compact setup in just 3 hrs. Not the flashiest, but it works for me.

gathering the tanks that I have about 18 of them.

Setting up the galvanised Steel stands.

Due to the size and construction, these stands can be easily adjusted, extended or lifted out.

My DIY sponge filters. Each tank has its own sponge filter, which are controlled via the gang valves.

This Shelving unit is quite compact, although the tanks are quite small, these would

be ideally suited for a breeding pair of guppies, bettas. And

cleaning individual smaller tanks would be an easy job. Larger tanks are for housing growing frys.

Fantastic job Shiuh.

Goes to prove that you don't "really" need a lot of room.

Those tanks look real neat... Did you make them or buy them..?

What capacity are they.. ? (Litres)

How do you go on for heat.. ?

I can see only one or two heaters.

Interesting filters you have as well. Do they all run into a central filter system..?

Nice clear pics too.. Thanks for sharing :)

Thanks Pegasus,

i got the this idea from the article you wrote from the guppy express sometime ago. so Big thanks to you.

Tank Cost

the bigger tank with 2 dividers were made for $30 each. 600mmx300mmx300mm

the little tanks you can get them from the warehouse for just $12

Tank Volume

each individual tank volume is around 18L. but ideally for 2-4 adult fish. but can keep fry for a short while.

Heating

for heating wise. i just put a heater in the middle of the tanks and heat will transfer to the other two. forgot to mention my room temperature is around 21 deg and it gets up to 25 deg at noon. the room itself gets so hot with sunlight coming in and with heated tanks in such a small room.

Filteration system.

i made myself these sponge filters for just under $1.50 each. they are all connected to a high capacity pump. works wonder in small tanks like this.

it is actually a sponge roller for painting that you can find in a $2 shop. i just use it as it got a plastic tube running through the sponge. save me time of actually cut a hole into the sponge. i just drilled some holes in the tube and stick a an airline in. easy. perhaps i should explain how i make it.
