jude
Are these fish happier in pairs or small schools? One of my two died recently and the other seems to be moping. Just wondering if I should get a couple more to add to the tank Cheers Jude
Wok
get another one of opposite sex and then you can expect a lot more  I have 3 and they seem to be pretty playful... I think I have a male and 2 females..(lucky male... gets to have twosomes )
heather
Hey Jude! I have a male and two females. Which ever female is not laying eggs that week gets harrased. I dont know whether i should get rid of one female or add one, or get rid of the male, or get rid of the females and only have males??? They are great fishies and i do think they deserve some company. Actually, I will be in Wellington this weekend if you would like one of the females? Faran
LOL Wok... anything that involves another partner would be a twosome... a male and two females would be a threesome. But ANYWAYS  We have 4 blue rams and find that they'd be much happier with only one male per tank. Did some reading into the Bolivian Rams and it seems they're about the same as the Blue's. Males set up a territory and females are mobile. My advice, get a female. If you have two girls you'll be fine and if you have a male and female you'll have a pair. jude
I have no idea what sex mine is. How can I tell? And I would love one of your fish Heather - thanks for the offer. Could you pm me so we can arrange to meet up somewhere? You would be welcome to visit here if you want Cheers Jude
Faran
The main sexual dimorphisms are: Males have longer rays on the first 3 originating rays of the dorsal fin, and also have much brighter/varied colouration. Male has patches of yellow, pink and blue on its body and not as much gray. I also heard that the red extensions on the tail fin are longer in males, but it's hard to tell when you only have one, aye?
