DubbieBoy
Could somebody with a Fluval 304 external canister filter please measure it for me and tell me if you think it would fit in a space 42cms high, (including the aqua-lock hose connector thingummybob...) Cheers! -Dubb

Nilocagain
Including the aqua-lock hose connector thingummybob... mine is about 42.5cms high, however I think it may wind down a bit more if your lucky
suphew
When working out the clearance dont forget to allow for the lever going up to block off the water and also allow room to pull the pipe/tap out of the cannister. I didn't allow enough room with mine (204) and had to tilt it to remove it for cleaning, more often than not spilling water.
DubbieBoy
Is the 204 any shorter? How about the Eheims - I wonder would an equivalent model fit into my space...? What would be the equivalent Eheim model be to the Fluval 304 anyway? They seem to have dozens...
Snowman
I use a few 2213's they are suitable for up to 250 ltrs, just had a measure and because the taps are on the hose, 1/2 way along or wherever you want to put them the filter is lower than other makes. The filter itself is 330mm tall and if you allow another 30 for the hose it will breeze in, can certainly recommend them. There is a new 2213 on Trade Me for $159 + $10 P+P. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pets-animals/Fish/Pumps-filters/auction-32911132.htm What size is the tank? DubbieBoy
Interesting; that may be a good option for my limited space. The tank is about 200 litres Are these older models convenient to clean? Much spillage or mess? Certainly cheaper...
