Caryl
Attention all club members! (of any sort of club). Now is the time to get a Community Post application from your local NZ Post. Applications must be in by September 2nd. This is a great way to save your club money on postage for newsletters. Applications will be considered from any non profit organisations or groups using postage to carry out their activities for the benefit of the community in their region. This includes activities that 1. contribute to community well being 2. promote education and learning 3. offer the community benefit and enjoyment. Fishkeeping offers all 3 of those! 8) Organisations must be 1. an incorporated society 2. a registered charitable trust or 3. a body or club that is controlled by an association of people under an adopted constitutiion and rules, with annual accounts and reports. Well, if your club isn't incorporated, it will at least fall under number 3. The form has an application sheet on the back and you have to describe (max 100 words) the project for which the postage included envelopes are required. (I suggest something along the following...) Our club promotes aquatic animal health and educates the public on the best way to care for their aquatic pets. We also help local council with pest weed identification and promote the destruction of classified noxious aquatic plants. They also ask; Who will benefit from this project? Club members and other members of the public who find out about us, local council and MAF When will the project occur? We have a monthly newsletter so the next 12 months What is the total cost of the project? Work out what a newsletter costs to be photocopied (eg 10c per side of A4 sheet) or printed plus postage How much has already been raised? We have an annual subscription of $X per person plus run the occasional raffle and/or sausage sizzle when required I actually got 100 envelopes on behalf of the FNZAS last year and our local radio ham club applies each year for their newsletters. Give it a go! You have nothing to lose except your postage costs!! :-?
